Where there once was none

There are remnants of hope
At times they do propel me
And I find myself lost
In all too familiar territory
The words that I practiced
Become fumbled and stuck
And my search for eloquence
Is a resounding “FUCK.”
So I think I should contemplate
And then contemplate a ponder
And I do this for some time
As my mind continuously wanders
Until I’m buried in excuses
And safe in denial
And the remnants they fade
At least, for a while
