Roadside Assistance

I need you to know
What you’ve done for me
Like the rain on a bud
After a cracking drought

Too long have I allowed
Myself to be the donkey
And others to be the cart

You freed me from this
And in this I needed badly

I need you to see more though

For I am trapped here waiting
Wanting so much so badly

In turn I’ve allowed
You to be my mule
And my cart is missing a wheel

I need you to know
I’m only letting you go
Until such a time
That you’ll come back to me

This came at precisely the right moment. Today I detach myself from two carts.

Those we drive for others, those we let ourselves be driven in. Timing is everything.
